Amazon launch iPhone app
A little late to the party, Amazon have launched their first iPhone app, allowing for one-touch ordering for its customers.
Ocado launches the first supermarket iPhone app
Online supermarket Ocado has launched an iPhone app – allowing users to browse their virtual aisles and shop for over 18,000 products.
Ocado, which is partly owned by John Lewis and stocks Waitrose-branded products, say the app is just “the first step of a journey that will eventually see Ocado available on several digital platforms”.
The app stores all of the product info on the iPhone so browsing can be done offline. The order will be complete once a connection is made.
I can see this catching on and other supermarkets getting in on the act. Online grocery shopping is a massive business and free apps will surely help to grow the industry further.

Amazon offers 'frustration-free' packaging on top products
We’ve all been there – that headphone cable that takes two pairs of scissors, a kitchen knife and a bulldog clip to get out of its packet, but still manages to nearly take off your finger. Well, if Amazon gets its way, that experience will be no more – it’s announced a ‘frustration-free packaging’ and launches today on 19 of Amazon’s best-selling products.
The goal is to make it easier for customers to get to the stuff they’ve paid for, and it also has the side-benefit of reducing use of plastic, which sticks about for bazillions of years once discarded. Amazon are initially focusing on two things – the aforementioned plastic bubble clamshells and those with plastic-coated wires tying them in place…

Amazon launches Giver and Grapevine Facebook apps
Yes, I realise most Facebook users have applications coming out of their ears, but Amazon’s rather late entry into the social networking scene has delivered two decent — dare I say useful — apps.
They won’t help you turn your friends in vampires, or tell everyone what your bodily functions say about your personality, or help you win virtual poker, but they might just give your friends a clue as to what you want for your birthday…
Brits barely trust their personal data to anyone, survey suggests
British consumers, faced with so many stories of companies and organisations losing data, and with the ongoing threat of identity theft, really don’t have much faith left in the security of their personal information.
A recent survey by the GB Group found that even the most trusted organisations — banks and building societies — were only trusted by 52% of the respondents…

Summer holidays and flooding key factors in UK's massive online shopping boost
June and July are typically good months for online purchases of electrical items such as MP3 players, digital cameras, and laptops, as people prepare for the summer holidays, but this year's figures also seem to have been helped, unfortunately, by…

A new study from the Get Safe Online (GSO) campaign revealed that nearly one in eight UK web users were a victim of online fraud last year, and that the average personal loss totalled £875, not to mention the stress…
