Samsung launches their high end Yepp YP-P3 in Korea
It’s a bit of a day for portable players of one type or another and although the Samsung Yepp YP-P3 here is not quite as pulse-raising as the Maxian, it does make for interesting competition for the iPod Touch.
The previous model, the Yepp YP-P2 never made it to the UK but if Samsung is serious about taking on Apple…
Maxian M1T pocket PMP – audio-player, video player & mini TV too
Well, well, well, what’s this little sexy creature all about? I imagine that’s what you’re saying in your head right now as you feast your peepers on this, the Maxian M1T pocket PMP.
It’s often hard to get excited about new portables these days. They all seem to be missing something. This, however, isn’t. It basically seems to have everything…
Sony prepping touch screen, wi-fi, 16 and 32GB WALKMAN-brand media player
Sony is preparing to jump on the touchable media player bandwagon, according to sources, with an all singing, all dancing, all touching PMP set to be unveiled at this coming January’s Consumer Electronic Show tech binge.
The WALKMAN-badged player will, so some bloke on the internet told some other bloke on the internet, have a 3″ OLED screen for super-nice colour reproduction and long enough battery life to watch…
SHINY VIDEO REVIEW: E-matic 4GB MP3 Player/Camera
In the video above, Zara takes a look at a camera/MP3 player hybrid device. It’s a bit of a strange combination, especially as there’s no mobile phone in there anywhere, but considering the specs of the little thing, it’s remarkably cheap for what you’re getting.
Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be available in the UK yet. Ah well – next Christmas perhaps.

Samsung considers SanDisk: looking to grow PMP share or just trying to save money?
A recent online report, later confirmed by the company, suggests that Samsung is looking to buy SanDisk, known for its memory and music player products.
It’s not clear exactly what Samsung’s motives are, with the official statement simply stating “We are looking at various opportunities regarding SanDisk (NSDQ: SNDK), but nothing has been decided yet.”
It could be that Samsung wants to build upon its YP Series of PMPs, get a piece of the SanDisk PMP pie, or simply that it would like to pay less (or nothing at all) in ongoing licensing fees for NAND and DRAM flash chips — it currently shells out around $353.8m each year…

Bluetooth & touchscreen unlikley in the standard PMP of the future – so say iSuppli
Figure 2.0 (that’s the graph above but I’m trying to sound all matho-analytical about it – just play along) Figure 2.0 shows the projections for the trends in the portable media player market…
The Chinese Egoman MP810RSTD-43 PMP will never launch here, sadly
Colourful circles aren’t the only feature the Egoman PMP has in spades, oh no. With a 480 x 272 resolution, it can play a bunch of file formats plus radio and even record audio. No word on whether it can make you a prawn schezuan dish for dinner, though.
The 4.3-inch touchscreen display houses 16.7 million colours, and can play WVI and RMVB at 30fps, along with MP3, WMA, ADPCM, WAV, APC, FLAC and display JPG, BMP and GIFs. Recording audio into ADPCM or WMA codecs, the…
Shiny Video Review: four best PMPs for watching Lost on, from Archos, Creative, Apple and Sony
In case you haven’t been suckered into it, Lost has left our screens for a four-week hiatus, so I thought it was high time to review four of the best PMPs for storing the last four seasons of the addictive show onto, for watching when you’re on the train to work, at the football, or waiting for your colleague who’s in a sex shop.
Take a look above at the video, which we just filmed on the streets of London’s Soho district, for our thoughts on the Archos 605 Wi-fi, Sony PSP, Creative Zen, and Apple iPod Touch….
