Tech Digest's Robot World Cup: Round Three
Since I started this World Cup, Japanese scientists have probably invented about 76 new bots even more deadly / cool / ridiculous than the ones featured here. Ah well. No late entries or byes are permitted, even if someone creates a British TennisBot capable of winning Wimbledon. Which is frankly unlikely.
Meccano's Spyke spy robot available to pre-order
We first reported on Spyke in January when he was unveiled at CES. He’s a pint-sized robot with built-in Wi-Fi, a microphone and a video camera. The idea: he trundles around your home keeping an eye on things, and then feeds you live footage whenever you want to spy on your family check everything’s secure.
Robot marries man in permissive South Korea
And woman. Together. For ever, or at least for a couple of years until they get fed up of each others’ breathing sounds and snoring, then file for a fully automated divorce.
The wedding took place in South Korea and, apparently, marks the first ever time a robot has assisted in a wedding. Not quite in the same league as the first trans-Atlantic…
