UK Podcasters Association allies with AIM to legitimise use of independent music in podcasts

ipod.jpgThe UK Podcasters Association, set up in May last year, has reached an agreement with the UK-based Association of Independent Music (AIM) to allow its members preferential, legitimate, access to AIM’s podcast licence.

This means that UK podcasters will gain unlimited access to full-length music tracks from the likes of Paul Weller, Bloc Party, Mylo, Basement Jaxx, Stereophonics, The Killers, and many thousands more, and be able to use them freely in their own podcasts.

Has iPhone mania gone too far? Scams and speculation rife

andy-merrett.jpgAndy Merrett writes…

I’m looking forward to the imminent release of the iPhone, even if it is taking place thousands of miles away from the UK, but it seems that every day someone has a new theory as to exactly when the iPhone will start being sold, and an utterly convincing reason for why they’re right.

The latest date is June 29th, and that’s true because a local manager in one of the AT&T mobile phone stores saw an email telling her. Apparently, they’ll all arrive in the dead of night (or maybe, mid afternoon) on June 28th, ready for packs of hungry iPhone fans (and not the occasional eBay scammer) to swoop in and sign up.

That doesn’t necessarily negate the “official letter” from AT&T telling staff that annual leave during this period would be discouraged.

Motorola shows off new, slimmer RAZR 2

motorola_razr_2_mobile_phone.jpgMotorola today presented its 2007 range of mobile devices – presumably the ones that CEO Ed Zander said would be “wickedly cool” – and it includes the RAZR2 that claims cutting-edge innovations in style, design, multimedia, messaging, and communications.

The RAZR2 is 2mm thinner than its predecessor, with seamless casing, vacuum metal finishes, and chemically hardened glass including the largest external display in its class.
