Top five Harry Potter gadgets (not including a naked Daniel Radcliffe)
Planning on queuing up to get the final Harry Potter book this Friday? I am, and have endured a relentless tirade of mockery in the office for the past week after letting that fact slip. I won’t do that again.
Win ultra-rare, limited edition Mimobot USB memory sticks with Mimoco
Mimobots are those USB memory sticks for the design-fussy amongst us, who just won’t accept a bog-standard job from Dixons. Normally coming in limited edition sets of just a few thousand, and even Star Wars characters, which Firebox.com will be stocking shortly apparently, a UK exclusive we hear, they’ve suddenly got a lot more attractive.
Mimoco, the company behind the addictive geek apparel, have created a scavenger hunt where between now and the 24th of July (the day the annual Comic Con falls on, which I’d give my right leg to attend) they’ll be revealing one of the nine new Core Series 2 Mimobot USB memory sticks each day. If you happen to be the first to find the site with the ‘breaking news’…

You can’t buy style, although dozens of paunchy millionaires bulging out of their catwalk slacks would disagree (as would all the people they pay to agree with them).

A bunch of Australian boffins have revealed a set-top-box with a camera inside, designed to recognise hand gestures and operate your TV.
The built-in camera can recognise seven types of gesture…

Quickly turning into the noise-cancelling headphone supremo here at Shiny Towers (I think it’s due to that Larry David/bald man exclusive club thing – ever noticed when you’re wearing noise-cancelling headphones, other wearers on the street nod at you, out of respect? Or are my previous JVC models simply that cool?)…

Shiny Video Review: Roth Audio Music Cocoon MC4 and Fatman Fatboy speakers
I went all audiophile crazy recently, and took some time out of my busy schedule (of, ahem, FaceBooking and lol-catting) to review the new Roth Audio Music Cocoon MC4 tube-based amplifier, and Fatman Fatboy speakers. Take a look if quality music is your game, and you’re embarassed of your £39 pair of iPod speakers you got at Argos on sale last Christmas…
