Peekaboo Pole Dancing concept game for the Wii: I’d like to see Reggie slide on that

peekaboo-wii-pole-dancing.jpg

Currently seeking a partner to help license their concept, Peekaboo Pole Dancing has sent out an email announcing their idea for a Wii game that’d have you ‘shake your booty’ and ‘spin your thing’.

Little else is said about the project, only that it’s a concept, and ‘A-list celebs’ like Carmen Electra, Kylie Minogue, the Spice Girls and Pussycat Dolls are already fans of the company, who currently sell portable dance poles.

Somehow I just don’t see this idea, ahem, sliding with Nintendo’s family-friendly…

Wiimote-controlled KUKA robot can play tennis and stab you if you ace it

Able to lift 1,000kg and with a reach of 3.2m, you could say the KUKA robotic arm is being put to waste when wielding a tennis racquet or sword for an intense Wii session. In the video above, you can see a couple of chaps controlling the KUKA with a Wiimote, which has been hacked with some light pattern recognition so it’d duplicate their arm swings.

The instructions on how to create a Wiimote controlled KUKA are over on their site, but first you’ll need to cough up a fair bit – here’s a second-hand one on eBay for $10k…

Shiny Video Review: Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for the Nintendo Wii

Simon’s taken out a good few hours of his life to bring you a video review on Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for the Nintendo Wii. He did it for you. He probably would’ve preferred doing the dishes or cleaning the mud off his bike, but no, he’s an unselfish type of chap who thinks nothing of sitting down for an eight-hour session playing the Wii, just for you. You should thank him, really…

iPlayer-wii-bbc-crikey.jpg

It seems like only at 10:11am this morning that UK ISPs were moaning about the burden iPlayer is putting on their ancient copper networks – well it’s about to get WORSE, lads!

Today, the BBC has announced it’s launching a version of iPlayer for Wii, in a move that’s set to take iPlayer to “the next level” and have millions more bored people idly browsing iPlayer’s lineup and hoovering up all of the internet.

An “early version” of the iPlayer software will pop up on Wii’s Internet Channel literally today…

According to an MTV source, Microsoft is not only considering a Wii-remote like accessory for the Xbox 360, it’s getting ready to launch it by the end of this year.

The project has reportedly been in planning since last summer, and legendary developer Rare has been given the responsibility of creating a unified interface and design of the controller…

Rock Band heading to American Wiis in June… aren't we forgetting something?

Rock_band_cover.jpg

Hey! Harmonix? Harmooooonix!! Hey, over here! Over here a second! Come on man, it’s us…. the rest of the world. You remember us, right? All those crazy accents, the weird food, the better cars? Yeah those ones. Well, we’d mightily appreciate a copy of that there game you’re selling… That’s it, Rock Band. Pretty please?

But apparently Harmonix ain’t selling. While Rock Band’s debut outside North America is no longer expected until around September time, the developer is merrily gearing up for the Wii version’s release on June 22nd…

Opinion: Manhunt 2's release will kill the current video games classifications

Jonathan Weinberg writes…

It’s a row that’s been rolling on for far too long. It’s a row that does nothing to help the perception of gaming among wider society. And it’s a row that is going to run and run for quite some time yet.

Rockstar has now finally overturned a ban that meant it was unable to release Manhunt 2 in the UK. But while that’s good news for the firm, for gaming itself, this whole bloody saga is just another nail in the coffin of gaming.

The media is already far too focused on the negatives – the violence, the calls to ban so-called “killer games” and the conflicts over having a voluntary code to provide an age rating for the majority of titles.

Occasionally a positive story will slip through, like the OAPs playing Wii to keep in shape, but on the whole, games are treated with far more disdain than rap music and horror movies, both of which have had their fare share of criticism in the past….
